President's statement on passing of former Board member MaryAnn Black
MaryAnn Black, a state politician and former Ïã½¶Ðãnical Community College Board of Trustee member, died on Thursday, March 26, at the age of 76.
President Bill Ingram issue the following statement:
“I am saddened today by the news of MaryAnn Black's passing earlier this week. MaryAnn served our community with grace, affection, and compassion as a member of the Durham County Board of Commissioners and the North Carolina General Assembly.
MaryAnn also served on the Ïã½¶Ðãnical Community College Board of Trustees including five years as chair. We will all miss her wisdom, her warm smile, and her tenacity for justice. I will miss her friendship.â€
Black served on the Ïã½¶Ðã Board of Trustees from 2011 to 2017. She was a member of the N.C. House of Representatives, representing House District 29 in Durham County. She was a Durham County commissioner from 1990 to 2002.
