�㽶��nical Community College is partnering with the Black Farmers’ Market beginning April 16, 2023. The market will be set up every other Sunday on the college’s main campus at 1637 Lawson St., Durham.

The market is free and open to the public from 1 to 4 p.m. Shoppers will find fresh produce and meats from Black local farmers and ranchers. There will be cooking demonstrations, family entertainment, music and food trucks. The Black Farmers’ Market accepts SNAP and participates in the Double Bucks program supported by Duke Health.

“We are very pleased to partner with the Black Farmers Market to help provide members of our community access to fresh, healthy, locally sourced food. Some of our students and community neighbors have obstacles to getting these kinds of foods, and we see the Market as a way to help remove some of those barriers,” said �㽶��nical Community College President J.B. Buxton. “We are proud that through this partnership we can also help support area farmers and address inequities in access to affordable, healthy food.”

The Black Farmers’ Market was created in 2019 and has grown into an essential community stakeholder, operating in both Durham and Raleigh.

“We have helped address food apartheid in both cities. It has helped create a safe and self-sufficient environment for Black farmers and businesses to thrive in the Triangle,” said Crystal Taylor, one of the Market’s founders.

“One of the reasons we are so excited to be at �㽶�� this year is because we believe having easy access to fresh produce and meats will really be a benefit, particularly for students and nearby residents,” Taylor said.

“The campus is an ideal gathering place where people can shop for groceries and enjoy a fun, family-friendly event.”
