Biogen pledges $250,000 donation to Ļć½¶Šć’s new life sciences center to train next generation of manufacturing associates

To commemorate its 30-year anniversary milestone, Biogen and the Biogen Foundation announced Oct. 9 a pledge of $250,000 to Ļć½¶Šćnical Community College’s new Novo Nordisk Life Sciences Center. The building will be a state-of-the-art facility designed to strengthen North Carolina’s life sciences talent pipeline. The Biogen Lab Hall will be part of the 35,000-square-foot facility, which will house 12 advanced laboratories and industry-aligned training for hundreds of students annually.

A longstanding community partner, Ļć½¶Šć has played a critical role in preparing the next generation of scientists and leaders in biomanufacturing.

ā€œWe can think of no better way to commemorate our three decades of investment and partnership in the Research Triangle Park community than with this important investment to Ļć½¶Šć,ā€ said Nicole Murphy, head of Pharmaceutical Operations and Technology at Biogen. ā€œThe institution has helped provide vital training and skills to future biotechnology leaders for more than 60 years, and we are proud to support such a vital program for our business and so many others.ā€

Ļć½¶Šć President J.B. Buxton said the expanded learning opportunities for students would not be possible without business and community support.

ā€œĻć½¶Šć is committed to preparing individuals for careers that provide economic opportunity and mobility in a rapidly growing field,ā€ he said. ā€œBiogen’s pledge is a win not just for the College and our students, but for life sciences companies, the Triangle economy and the health of our community.ā€
